PANORAMA

From the Triano Gate, sitting on the bench beneath the trees, you have a wonderful view.To the left you can see the towns of Cortona, Camucia-Terontola, Castiglion Fiorentino, Sinalunga, Foiano Della Chiana, Bettolle, Torrita di Siena, and Lucignano in Val di Chiana. In the centre you can see Lake Trasimeno and its islands, in the distance the flat surface of Mount Subasio. On clear days you might even see the Appenines in the region of Le Marche. To the right you can see Montepulciano and if there is no mist you can clearly see Mount Terminillo in the Abruzzo region. Some say that you can even see the Gran Sasso, the highest mountain in the Appenines. On the far right is the town of Pienza and Mount Amiata, a dormant volcano.
